RURAL TOURISM IN KONKAN

Forget Matheran or Mahableshwar, or for that matter Lonavala and Khandala. Get your map out and try and locate Nate, Gavane, Devrukh, …..These are some of the latest hotspots in Konkan where the tourists are heading for a break.

And it is not only Mumbaites or Puneites, shocked and awed by the recent terrorist attack, who are heading for some peaceful moments in these nondescript villages. International tourists too are making a beeline for these hitherto unheard locations that have emerged as Konkan’s top rural tourism destinations in recent years.

Rural Konkan has a rich tradition of art and culture and can thus give a unique experience to tourists. It can also improve living standards in rural areas. You may like to ask me the definition of Rural Tourism in Konkan, Any form of tourism that showcases rural life, art, culture and heritage at rural locations, benefiting the local community economically and socially as well as enabling interaction between the tourists and the locals can be termed as Konkan Rural Tourism.
