kanchan athalye | Wednesday, January 18, 2012 | Best Blogger Tips
February 18th,2012: Early morning departure from a convenient location or your doorstep. Stop for breakfast at Nagothane, the gateway to the Alphonso Belt. We meander through the verdant Konkan countryside and stop to enjoy lunch Pethe Parushram village near Chiplun. This is the mythical site where Parushram threw his mighty axe into the churning sea, causing the waters to recede to its current shoreline. In the evening, check in at a hilltop farmhouse at Nate, nestled in 60 acres of Mango Plantation. Stroll around the farm, where your host will explain the varieties of mango and how they are cultivated, sorted, and packed. Early dinner with aamras from the farm.

February 19th,2012: Awake early morning for a traditional breakfast before leaving to Fort Vijaydurg, which literally means "Victory Fort", is a fort built by Shivaji in the Sindhudurg district in Maharashtra. The main purpose of building this fort was to defend the shoreline on the Arabian Sea. This fort is a complex in itself, having a commander's house and three lines of defences. The three fortified walls stand proud and tested by time and the unforgiving sea.
Proceed to Kunkeshwar Temple, an ancient Shiva Temple is located in Kunkeshwar village, 14 Kms from Devgad town. A pristine beach with a very long stretch of seashore and white sand adds to the beauty of temple surroundings. This beautiful temple near beach has alluring architecture with reminiscent of South Indian style of temple architecture. Yadav Kings built this temple in 1100 A. D. Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj who rejuvenated this temple many times was a frequent visitor to this temple. This temple is also famous as Kashi of South Konkan.
Return to Ganesh Agro Tourism for Camp Fire and a dip in the Konkani Brahmin Food for Dinner.

February 20th,2012: Breakfast at 8:00 am and prepare for journey to Mumbai. Visit Pawas, besides its scenic natural beauty and serenity, pawas is well-known for the ashram of swami swaroopanand (a spiritual leader who influenced an entire generation of maharashtrians). A visit to this place is truly a journey through time.
Also visit Kanakaditya Temple (Sun God temple), The temple is having a bright historical background. The deity of God Aditya (one of the names of God Sun) was brought from Prabhas Pattan Sun temple before 800 years. Prabhas Pattan is Lord Krishna’s place. There are so many legends about the temple. Once one boatman was traveling from Veraval port towards South direction. The deity of Aditya was there in the same boat. When the boat was passing through the Kasheli region, the boat had stopped automatically. The boatman tried a lot to sail the boat into the sea. But he failed to do so. Then he has decided to place the deity of God Aditya at the Kaseli port. He had placed the deity into a black cave (approximately 400 sq. feet). Immediately after this, the boat had got the motion for sailing. A great devotee of God Sun, Kanaka, was living at Kasheli. She got the enlightment from God Sun about the deity. Then she had formally constructed a small temple of Aditya with the help of villagers, hence the temple is known as Kanakaditya. The cave is called as “Devachi Kholi” ( God’s room). There are only few temples of God Sun. Hindu philosophers and believers consider Sun as a God. There is an ancient Sun temple at Prabhas Pattan near Veraval in Sourashtra region. One can find some Sun temples in Uttar Pradesh (U.P.). Madhya Pradesh (M.P.), Konark, Orisa and Nepal.
Last and final stopover before proceeding to Mumbai is Temple of Devi Mahakali at Village called Adivare, Adivare is a very small settlement but very famous for its Mahakali Temple. It is a small well-maintained Temple, which is a home for 3 goddesses viz. Mahalakshmi, Mahakali and Mahasaraswati.
