REDI GANPATI

kanchan athalye | Monday, November 22, 2010 | Best Blogger Tips

It's foundation story is a follows: On April 18th, 1976 one truck-driver, Sadanand Nagesh Kambali parked his truck at a particular place. This truck used to ply from Reddi's (iron & minerals) mine to harbour. That truck -driver slept there and he had a dream. In dream, God Ganesha gave him divine appearance and told him to dig at the very same place, since He(God) is residing there. He had great faith in Lord Ganesha.
As per his dream, he started digging there and to the astonishment of all the villagers, there appeared two-handed idol of Lord Ganesha, carved in solid rock. The date was 1st May 1976. After seeking omen from Gram–Devata (Village deity), it was decided to build a temple at the very spot and establish this deity. After few days, in the same area they excavated a big idol of mouse, which is a traditional vehicle of Ganesha. These idols are very pretty and graceful. Today one. can visit beautifully built temple and get delighted by taking "Darshan" of the adorable deity.

Temple is located approximately 30 km from Vengurla. The town in which this temple is situated contains manganese mines and the Ganpati Idol was found in one of the mines near Rewati port in 1976. The Ganpati Idol is in a sitting position and approximately 15 meters in height. There is a small rocky beach behind the temple.

KANAKESHWAR TEMPLE

kanchan athalye | Tuesday, November 09, 2010 | Best Blogger Tips

Kanakeshwar - near Alibag is a nice place and famous for cool climate and especially because of old temple of Lord Shiva. The temple is situated on a small hill and the nearby village is ' Mapgaon ' which is almost 12 kms. from Alibag. The hill is almost 1200 feet high and one has to climb 700 - 750 steps to reach the temple.
In the mid of the hill one can see 'Nagobacha Tappa' ( a Place of Snakes ) and famous step ' Devachi Payari ' . There is one popular story about this step that it was named because it is said that God itself stepped here after the construction of the temple and the steps. The temple of Kanakeshwar is very beautiful, it is a ' Hoysal ' style structure built in 1764 . A water tank - popular known as - has water almost through out the year.
The hill and the surroundings are pretty good to visit. One can feel the hilly region and the forest on the hill. The other places to see near Kanakeshwar are ' Maruti Temple ', ' Gaymandi ' ( Sculpture of Cow ) ,' Temple of Devi Putrabai ' , ' Gaymukh ' and ' the platue of Vyaghreshwar ' ( A small temple of Lord Shiva ) etc.
Truly , Kanakeshwar is a place to feel the jungle and silence of the jungle and hills. If you want to see the beauty of Arabian sea and fort of Khandevi as well as the entire hilly region, then Kanakeshwar is the place to visit and rest for 2-3 days.

DON'T FORGET THESE FOUR WAYS TO PROTECT YOUR HOME WHEN YOU'RE TRAVELLING.

kanchan athalye | Tuesday, November 09, 2010 | Best Blogger Tips

Tip #1: Look to the neighbors.
Is there a household on your block where one of the occupants works at home during the day or is a stay-at-home parent? Sometimes all your home needs is a pair of watchful eyes. Without asking this neighbor to water the plants or take out the dog or bring in the mail, simply ask this: Will you let me know if you see anything odd around my house while I am away? Provide him or her with your cell-phone number and a relative or close friend who might have an extra key to your house (this person will need to visit the home and investigate if, say, a front window is smashed or a tree falls onto your front porch). Now, while your neighbor is walking the dog or trimming bushes -- and knowing that you are out of town -- it might seem alarming when he or she spots an individual banging on your door and then peering into the windows. Is it a robbery about to happen or a sales call? You won't know if you don't designate a pair of eyes to investigate.

Tip #2: Don't advertise your vacation.
We all like to brag about our vacations, but it's best to save that news until you've returned and are sleeping in your own bed at night. While you might think that your 773 Facebook friends and 599 Twitter followers are your friends, you really don't know that. Also, if you publish a blog that's deeply personal -- and even if it's not -- don't let on that you are going to be taking a break from blogging. These days it's possible to pre-schedule posts in advance, with just a few clicks on your computer's keyboard and mouse. This way you can make it look like you are home -- even when you are not. As for Facebook and Twitter, try your best to stay off those social-media channels and relax while on vacation. Your connections may simply take your virtual absence as a sign that you are stressed and busy.

Tip #3: Leave some lights on.
My neighbors like to pull the shades down on every single one of their windows -- both floors, all sides of the house -- when they go out of town. That's how I know they are away. Don't be this obvious. Instead, ask the person who is watching your home -- feeding pets, watering plants, bringing in the mail, etc. -- to rotate which lights are switched on at night. One night, make it the master-bedroom lamp for a soft glow coming from that room. For another evening, ask your house sitter to turn on the overhead chandelier in the dining room. Keep the curtains parted at least two or three feet. With blinds, leave some throughout the house closed and others open. You can also take advantage of timing devices that can turn some lights on and off.

Tip #4: Stop all deliveries.
One tip that a house is vacant are the number of newspapers lying on the front porch or strewn across the sidewalk. You don't want that to be your situation -- and a reason for a roving burglar to pull up to your home during the day and loot your jewelry and electronics. Make sure you cancel your newspaper before you even start packing. Go the second step and notify Postal Service that you are going to be out of town on certain dates. You then have two options: pick up the bundle of mail at the nearest post office after your return, or request that it be delivered in bulk on your first day back. I receive a lot of packages and when I know I am going to be out of town, and not in the house to sign for them, I let my delivery guys know. Think about this: it saves them the hassle, too.

RAJAPUR GANGA

kanchan athalye | Tuesday, November 09, 2010 | Best Blogger Tips
Rajapur Ganga, one of the nature’s wonder appears when She wants, stays as long as She wishes to, and disappears when She decides. It is believed that Ganga appears to see Lord Shiva of Dhootpapeshwar Temple. Devotees never miss a chance to take bath in the water of Ganga. They believe their sins are washed away with the blessings of Ganga Mata (Divine Mother).
This well-known holy spot near Rajapur has Kashi Kunda (water store) and 13 other Kundas. Six gallons of water comes every minute in each of these Kundas during Ganga’s presence. All 14 Kundas are dry throughout year. Even during rainy season not a single drop of water stays in these Kundas. When Ganga appears, all Kundas are filled with water and celebration starts. Interesting thing to note is that temperature of water in Kundas varies from one to another even though these are so close to each other.

This holy spot is located on the top of hill and walk towards it through tree lanes is very beautiful. There is also a road that goes to the top for people who prefer vehicle to reach there. A half a mile below Rajapur Ganga, visitors first visit “Ushnodak Tirth” which is a continuous flowing hot water stream running throughout the year in Unhale village. Separate arrangements have been made for men and women to take bath in this water. Temperature of water in “Ushnodak Tirth” is 42.8 degrees.
This water contains small amount of Sulphur in it and therefore it is believed to have medicinal values. People with skin and arthritis problems can benefit from taking bath in this water. After taking bath, visitors proceed towards Ganga either by walk or by vehicle.
Rajapur Ganga first appeared in March 1883, which stayed for around 68 days. It was appearing for every 2-3 years after that. Then it appeared in 1936 after 1918 with 18 years gap. Since 1945, it has been appearing for every 2 to 3 years. It recently appeared on May 28, 2009 and was there for around 20 days.

This phenomenon has been inviting scientists to research further.
